Practical inputs
Each calculator asks only for the measurements it uses.
Why MeasureClub exists
MeasureClub turns common home-planning rules of thumb into simple calculators and guides, and shows the workings so you can check them.
What this site is
MeasureClub is a free collection of calculators and guides for rugs, paint, wallpaper, curtains, flooring, tiles, skirting boards, TV size, gravel and area. It is written for UK homes, so it uses centimetres, litres and sizes such as “king bed”, and every calculator can switch to metres, inches or feet.
Home measurements rarely have one universally correct answer. A rug that works in one 4 m room may block a doorway in another, and paint coverage changes with the surface. So each calculator gives an estimate, shows what it assumes, works through an example and lists the checks worth making before you buy.
Each calculator asks only for the measurements it uses.
Defaults, allowances and a worked example sit beside the result.
Each page lists the real-world checks to make before you order.
How the content is made
The calculators use widely published rules of thumb and standard product sizes, such as adding 60 cm around a dining table for a rug, or a viewing distance of 1.6 to 2.1 times the screen diagonal for a TV. The maths is covered by automated tests that check each worked example. The guidance has not been tested in rooms by us, and it has not been independently reviewed by decorators, fitters or other professionals.
Calculators are planning aids. They do not replace the instructions on a product label, a manufacturer's guidance or advice from an installer, and the result is only as good as the measurements you enter. If you spot a mistake, please tell us and we will correct it.
Money and data
MeasureClub is free and currently shows no adverts. We do not publish affiliate links or paid product placements, and calculator results are never influenced by a seller. To see which pages are useful, we count visits with cookieless analytics that does not identify you or record what you type into a calculator. See the privacy policy for exactly what is collected.
